So, this is my first foray into the world of superheroes on this here blog...I'm a sucker for Wolverine, and was sketchin' this earlier today. Decided to color it up, again, using an analogous color scheme, plus a complimentary. Its kind of amazing to see the interaction of the colors when you learn which ones actually work together. Fun stuff. I'll probably try some more different schemes in the future, but for now I'm having fun with analogous :)
I'm enjoying these:)
ReplyDeleteI try to only update on my blog when I have a new drawing to post, as an incentive to draw more, but I totally like the one a day idea better...honestly though, I didn't think you'd keep putting these pretty colourful details so often though. I think later on you should gather these up and make a nice $20 con sketchbook out of it.
I'm happy to say I first discovered and followed your work on DA (I'm printmonkey over there) and I am very glad to have the chance to follow your blog here as well.
ReplyDeleteAnyway I am quite color blind and I can still see what you mean about the color choices. Aside from being beautifully inspiring it also serves as a bit of a tutorial/color theory refresher for me. Beautiful work as always!
Thanks Brian and John! I probably will collect these in a sketchbook at some point...Probably next year when I have a lot to choose from. Glad to hear you like the colors John...I knew a bit about color theory from my year at the Kubert School and stuff that friends have taught me, but this is the first time I learned how to easily pick the correct colors in Photoshop. Here's a link to the tutorial I used: http://www.chainstyle.com/tutorials/colscheme.html
ReplyDeleteReally nice Micah! I love how much energy the color choice brings to the sketch.
ReplyDeleteSweet - thanks for the link to that - It'll come in very handy!
ReplyDeleteCheers!
